Build the Block

On April 7, 2009 in Peoria, Illinois, there is going to be a vote about whether a sales-tax increase should be implemented to help fund the Peoria Riverfront Museum, which is a part of the "Build the Block" campaign. The block in mention is a seven acre piece of land found in downtown Peoria. I personally believe that this would be a great addition to the riverfront, and I also went to pre-school at the current museum. The museum would contain a five story IMAX theater, a state-of-the art planetarium, and many exhibits with subjects ranging from science to art to history. In addition, the block would help to increase the quality of the river by filtering runoff with plants that naturally remove pollutants. So, I encourage all who have the ability to vote for the tax increase to vote in favor of it, so we can "Build the Block". If you want to learn more about the "Build the Block" campaign the link is right here-->://www.buildtheblock.org/.

  1. Blake...what a great blog posting. You are bringing an awareness to something you care about and offering your readers an opportunity to learn more about it. I'm glad to see that the museum will be part of the Rivers Project by protecting our local flora and fauna.
